Back to Basics 20 - Roasted Brussels Sprouts

If you're not sure about Brussels sprouts, this is the recipe you want to try out. Roasting makes almost anything taste better. And adding bacon and garlic will make rocks taste good! Not that I would know from experience. Ew. Anyway....recipe!

Ingredients

-1lb of Brussels sprouts, or really just however much you have. This recipe doesn't need to be exact.
-2 slices of bacon, chopped (I like to get some organic bacon that is sulfate and sulfite free). Optional for vegans
-6 garlic cloves, peeled but left whole
-1 teaspoon of chopped herbs. Rosemary and thyme are some good hardy ones. They can be dried or fresh, just make sure you cut the amount by about a third if you're using dried.
-1 teaspoon of brown sugar (learn how you can make your own here) Optional, for vegans
-1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
-Salt & pepper to taste

Directions
-Preheat your oven to 400F.
-Wash your Brussels sprouts and take the outer leaves off. Then cut them up so they're all the same size.
-In a baking dish (9"x13"), combine all of your ingredients well.

-Roast them for about 20 minutes, making sure to stir them halfway through the cooking time. Keep an eye on them towards the end so they don't burn.

Serve these right away!
